We need your support to make Kadeer wish come true

After September 11 attacks in 2001, US started attacking Afghanistan and Iraq citing 'war on terrorism' as a justification for them. A number of nations took advantage on the situation and strengthened the suppression for anti-government groups and ethnic minorities who wish to be independent or wish to have special autonomy within its homeland by calling them 'terrorists'.

China was not an exception. The government labeled people with censorious attitude as 'terrorists' and detained a few dozens of thousands of people. The detained Uyghurs were tortured and sentenced unjustly and after that, they were imprisoned or executed. The Uyghurs felt their lives were in danger escaped to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan and now Chinese government is putting pressure on the governments of those countries to return those Uyghurs.

Speaking Tour 2007 invites Ms. Rabiye Kadeer, the former 'Prisoner of conscience'. It is a good opportunity to know and put thought into the human-rights abuse against Uyghurs justified as 'War on terrorism' together with Ms. Rabiye's experience in the prison.

About Ms.Rabiye Kadeer bookmark

Ms.Rabiye Kadeer, the winner of Rafto Prize for human rights and the nominee of the Nobel Peace Prize, was one of the foremost asset holder in China. She contributed a lot to built a female rights by establishing a company to encourage Uyghur females to be professional and independent. She also held an important position in politics but she incurred Chinese government's displeasure as she criticized the government policy against Uyghurs and Mr.Sidik, her husband, had to take political asylum.
In August 1999, Ms.Rabiye herself was sentenced to 8 years in prison for 'stealing national secrets for foreign persons'. Sending a newspaper article with the names of political criminals to her husband in United States was considered as 'stealing national secrets for foreign persons'.
Winning the Rafto Prize for human right gathered world attention on her and Chinese Communist Party suddenly released her on March 2005 afraid of being accused of its abuse of human-rights. Ms.Rabiye migrated in United States and now she is the president of World Uyghur Congress and she is participating various activities. China has arrested and imprisoned her children as retaliatory measures.

It is expected that Japanese media that has not picked up the East Turkistan issues may change the attitude if Ms.Rabiye, 'The Spiritual Mother of Uyghurs', could visit Japan.
Let us support Ms.Rabiye to visit Japan.
